The Minister for Manufacturing, David Hodgett recently took time out of his busy campaign schedule to maintain his close ties with industry by visiting local manufacturers.

One of the manufacturers to welcome the minister was Australian Precision Technologies (APT), a Berwick based company that specialise in producing simple to highly complex precision components, instruments and assemblies.

Minister Hodgett was able to see first hand how APT used their recent government grant to expand their investments in the latest world-leading technologies to further enhance their presence in the Mining and Aerospace industries.

“I am incredibly impressed with the innovation, commitment and skills-base demonstrated by these firms, and how they have used Coalition Government support to enhance their presence,” Mr Hodgett said.

APT were also able to showcase their pristine facilities and outline their involvement in a new specialised global export project.

Ron Weinzierl, Business Director of APT commented, “We work closely with our technology partners such as Okuma to maintain our competitive edge and that, along with our Quality control program managed by Ian MacKenzie, are all critical to our success.”

“As well as looking at ways to diversify its product, APT has developed a cutting edge training system. The company is also working with Chisholm TAFE to develop training that gives employees staged training on state-of-the-art machinery”, Mr Hodgett said.

With a young, motivated team and their technology partners behind them APT are forging ahead into new niche markets with a vision to further expand their global export.
