It takes an outstanding team of engineers to install Australia's largest Okuma Double Column.

“The installation of the double column by the Okuma team was seamless. It really was a very impressive process to watch and by far the best machine installation we have had in our facility yet.. I’ll take my hat off to them for that. Thanks Okuma”, Charlie Eilbeck, EILBECK CRANES

Karl Corry, Senior Applications Engineer, Okuma NSW, said "Precision is everything when installing any machine but particularly a machine of this size. The attention to detail from these highly skilled Engineers from Okuma Japan has to be seen to be believed. The relentless checking of machine levels and accuracy whilst the install was taking place really showed when the first component came off the machine. Eilbeck's first component was within 10µm tolerance without any offsets being made! This type of accuracy on a machine this size is why Okuma is the leader in the Double Column machine tool market."

Okuma's skilled engineers from Japan are working their magic with the Okuma NSW Service Engineers to install and level this huge 95+ Tonne machine.

Mr Goto, Double Column Machining Center Assembly Engineer, Okuma Japan commented, “The Double-Column machine installation at Eilbeck Cranes is one of the best we have done outside of Japan so far.  The preparation by the highly skilled Okuma Australia Engineers prior to our arrival was a huge benefit to ensure the smooth installation of this machine, strengthening the already good and cooperative relationship we have.  Also, Eilbeck’s new facilities, foundations and crane capabilities were outstanding.”

Okuma introduced the first double-column machining center in 1964.  Providing the stability and power required to deliver super-sized precision, detail-oriented industries, including aerospace, electronics and automotive, rely on these monsters to deliver time and time again. We have over 215,000 square feet of manufacturing space dedicated to these large machines.  In fact, Okuma double-column machines are used to manufacture the parts for nearly all the other Okuma machines. If we rely on them, you can too.
