Okuma proudly announced the commencement of our new Tatung Okuma Company (TOC) manufacturing factory facility, located in New Taipei City, Taiwan.

At TOC, we manufacture Okuma, Genos model lathes and vertical machining centers that are high quality and outstanding performance at affordable price levels, targeted at promoting sales in Asia and other global markets.

John Dale recently visited this factory to meet the new factory president, Mr Kazunori Mizuno and to understand first hand how the machines produced at this factory will support the Australian + New Zealand markets.

“Demand for machine tools continues to expand globally and in Australia we are seeing a surge of requirement for our Okuma machines and also our entry level Okuma Genos model machines”, said Okuma Australia’s John Dale, Branch Manager WA.

Mr Nori Nakashima, retiring President, TOC said, “the old factory had aged with time and the expansion of production capacity and high efficiency became an issue.  We decided to construct a smart factory that utilizes the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) at the new site, to achieve high efficiency production.”

“This new factory provides an increase in production capacity of 1.5 times the old plants output,” says Mr Kazunori Mizuno, “with plans approved for the second factory being built in the next 12 months and the third factory shortly after that.”

“The increased capacity of this factory provides great opportunities for the Australian & New Zealand markets.  High quality entry level machines are in significant demand and with this and future expansion plans it means the availability of innovative, high quality Okuma Genos brand machines will improve and will further support the growth of our local manufacturing industry”, said John Dale.

We also would like to thank and congratulate Mr Nori Nakashima on his illustrious career and the announcement of his retirement.  He has many friends and associates in Australia & New Zealand after spending more than 10 years as the Australian-based Okuma Liaison Engineer and now over 15 years as President of Tatung Okuma Corporation in Taiwan.  We wish Nori well in his retirement and thank him for his friendship and support of Okuma Australia & New Zealand.
