Okuma CNC machine tools are well known in Australia and enjoy a significant market position.

Okuma Australia's NSW branch cares for one of the Company's largest and most successful markets in Australia.

The Company's core business is in promoting, selling and servicing Okuma CNC Lathes, CNC Multifunction Lathes and Machining Centres, CNC Cylindrical Grinders, Fanuc ROBOCUT EDMW machines and a range of allied industry leading accessory items. The Company's sales process is assisted by the skills, manufacturing and machining experience of exceptionally qualified Application Engineers who are required to join the sales and support process of the Company in order to advise and recommend solutions to our current and potential customers.

The Applications Engineering group assist the sales process by managing and/or assisting with all new installations, assembly, start up, test run, full commission and customer training as agreed with the customer in the sales process.

The Applications engineering group are also called upon to provide chargeable field training for customers or to conduct the training of other Okuma engineers in Australia or overseas.  

Reasonable travel capacity is expected.

This position would suit someone already working with CNC Machine Tools with ambition to expand their experience and career.

Qualifications/prerequisites:

  • Formal trade fitter/mechanic or tertiary qualification or machine tool fitting/building experience or related engineering equipment maintenance experience.
  • Turning and machining experience in most commonly used materials including Titanium, Aluminium, Stainless and carbon steels, brass, hard alloys, composites, cast and forged materials.
  • Machinery and industrial safety aware
  • Demonstrable CNC Machine tool (Lathes and Machining Centres as a minimum) advanced programming skills. (Okuma OSP and Fanuc preferred)
  • Clear bill of health (certificate required)
  • Australian Citizenship or permanent residency
  • Articulate and confident in English and able to train others.
  • Unencumbered Driver's licence.
  • Past employment References
  • Full compliance with all the standards, documentation and systems of the Company.
